DUKE

15 months old

M/N

Hound/Shar Pei Mix

UPDATE: Duke has had a relapse of Demodex mange. He also has a secondary bacterial infection and ear infection. He has been put on one month of cephalexin and ketoconazole as well as two months of Ivomec. He will be re tested in one month to see if the mange has cleared up.

Duke is approx. 11 months old and what a sweet puppy he is! Duke had Demodex Mange (not contagious) when Annie's Angels got him. It has since cleared up and we are now waiting for his hair to grow back in.  Duke is great with other dogs and kids. Duke loves to snuggles and sit on laps if you will let him.

 ANNIE

Annie is the inspiration for this organization. She was found caring for 8 puppies and had been shot multiple times in an attempt to keep her out of a garden. One of the bullets shattered her humerus. Medical intervention was too late and the break healed on its own. This caused her left front leg to shorter than the others causing a limp. This limp is not because she is in pain. The leg was going to be amputated but because it is not causing her any trouble at the moment and she is able to walk on it we decided against it. If in the future it becomes a problem, she will be re-evaluated and the leg may have to be removed. Because of the horrible life that she had prior to coming to Annie's Angels, she is still somewhat fearful of people. We are in the process of socializing her. Annie has come a long way since we received her on 4/4/09 and will make someone a wonderful dog. She LOVES other dogs and they bring out the best in her. She also loves belly rubs and to be held.

SIMON

12-15-09 Simon went into surgery and did wonderful. They also neutered him and had to extract all of his remaining teeth.

12-12-09 UPDATE: Unfortunately Simon's bloodwork does look like we hoped it would and he is not eating very well. He is VERY anemic (PCV only 15%), albumin was very low and WBC count was very high. He cannot go into surgery until his PCV goes up above 20%. He has been started on some medication in hopes of increasing his RBC production. He is also on antibiotics. His PCV and a CBC will be redone on Sat, and if his PCV has gone up he will go into surgery on Tuesday. While he is under he will also need to be neutered and due to his severe dental disease he will need to have some of the remaining teeth removed. Please pray for Simon and for a speedy recovery. We are also now looking at about $600.00 for his treatment. If you can donate, even if it is a dollar, that would be greatly appreciated.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Donations URGENTLY needed! 11 year old, unaltered Yorkie named Simon was brought into the vet this evening with a necrotic leg. A few nights ago, the owner was not home and sometime during the night, Simon got his leg caught in the string on the window blinds and when the owner came home found Simon hanging by his back leg from the blinds. The leg needs to be AMPUTATED ASAP. He also needs to have bloodwork done, vaccines and to be neutered. We are looking at about $400.00 to have him treated (if he is not HW+). The owner has relinquished the dog to Annie's Angels and he now needs to be treated. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

 Little Red
2-3 year old, F/S, Spaniel Mix
This is Little Red! She was brought into the vet as a stray. She was non weight bearing on her left rear leg. Turns out she is HEARTWORM POSITIVE and has an abscess the size of a grapefruit on the inner thigh of her rear leg. The abscess looks like it is the result of puncture wounds. They do not look like dog puncture wounds, but we are not sure what they are from. She is very nervous around strangers but once she gets to know you she is a big love bug...

ROO

1 year old, F/S, sheltie/dachshund mix

Roo came to Annie's Angels from Blount County Animal Center. She was relinquished to the shelter along with her mom and three siblings when her family lost their home. She had a severely deformed left front leg that had to be amputated. She was very undersocialized when she arrived and is still nervous around new people and new situations. She is a big baby and loves to cuddle and sleep in bed under the covers.

SOPHIE AND ABIGAIL

Sheltie/Dachshund Mix

Sophie and Abigail are approximately 8 months old. They are current on all vaccinations, have been spayed and microchipped. Sophie and Abigail loves to play and to be held. They are shy around new people but warn up quickly. They would love to go to their forevers homes.

Snow Bear

1 year old-Female-Lab/American Bulldog Mix

Snow came to Annie's Angels from the Blount County SPCA. Snow spent a week at the vet with injuries to all four paws. We are unsure of the cause of her injuries but all four of her pads had been worn raw and the inside toes on her hind feet were missing 75% of the skin and tissue. She has since healed and is ready for a forever home. She is very high energy, loves other dogs, but plays very rough with them.
