                         About NH Gives 2017

NH Gives Day is a powerful, statewide 24-hour online fundraising event that is designed to build community, connect donors to local nonprofits and generate excitement about the nonprofit sector. Beginning at 6PM EST on Tuesday, June 6 and continuing until 6pm EST on Wednesday, June 7, Granite Staters will go online to show their support for the nonprofits that make NH so extraordinary.

I know, it may be "bad form" to post this "ask" right up front but this campaign is so important and can reach so many, I decided to lead off our newsletter with it. This campaign has the potential to boost our ability to help more families than ever, with 100% of funds raised going to help local families struggling financially through life threatening disease, illness or disability.

To support Annie's Angels this NH Gives Tuesday simply click the logo at the top of this piece! Thank you for your continued support.

An Update and a Look Ahead
Bill DaGiau
Well, let's start by filling in the gaps from last month. I would like to thank Bob's Clam Hut and Robert's Maine Grill for their generosity. Bob's Clam Hut sent us more than $1,000.00 collected by asking customers to "round up" their credit card or cash purchase in lieu of tips! We also received a percentage of the proceeds from Robert's Maine Grill for meals served May 2 and 9 through their Community Supper Program totaling $450.00. Thanks for your support!

Also in May we received a grant from TD Charitable Foundation in the amount of $3,000.00 for our Chris' Pets for Vets program. On behalf of our veterans and their companion pets, thank you TD Charitable Foundation!

The 40th Annual Walter Burns Fishing Day for Children with Special Needs was a huge success! With your support and partnering with Piscatiqua Fish and Game and NH Fish and Game Department, Sanderson Pond was stocked with 700 Trout! We had about 150 students and 75 teachers from local schools, along with volunteers from Piscatiqua Fish and Game. Thanks to fundraising efforts by Armand Turcotte and his fishing day committee we were able to provide hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and cookies to everyone who came out. The children all got medals for coming out and trophies were awarded to students with the first fish, biggest fish etc for both boys and girls.

Thanks to Talbots for their fundraiser on May 25th. Talbots donated a portion of the proceedsfrom the entire day of shopping to our Chris' Pets for Vets program! It was such a success, they're still counting! I'll keep you posted on the final number.

Also for Chris' Pets for Vets, 7 bands came out to perform thanks to Arti Doucette and Crow's Nest in Plaistow, NH Once again it was such a success, they're still counting. I'll keep you updated but a very special thanks to everyone involved in making Memorial Day Saturday so...well, memorable.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Teddy Bear Drive such a huge success! Through our partnership with Trends Gift Gallery in Exeter, NH along with your support we've collected more than 1000 new stuffed animals for the kids at Boston Children's Hospital. This is an ongoing program so if you come upon a new, unwrapped stuffed animal to donate we'll be happy to add it to the supply!

The 21st Annual Rye by the Sea 5k Walk/Run & Duathlon, presented by Urban Tree Service was a success! While the skies threatened all week and the weather person planted gloomy thoughts in our heads, on Saturday the sun was shining, the skies were blue and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! Although some cyclist asked if next year we could plan for more of a tail wind...silly cyclist :)
There are so many to thanks for the success of this year's RBTS. Seacoast Spine & Sports Injury Clinic for providing their loving touch to runners and riders, Fun Time Entertainment for providing their PA system as well as electronic standings board. Did you know Santa has a vacation home on the NH seacoast? He DOES and came to visit us at RBTS to make animal balloons and take photos with anyone who wanted one! Thanks to Kona Ice for coming out and donating a portion of her proceeds to the event, Annie Cole from Isagenix provided some healthy snacks, Next Level Church for providing ALL the water and volunteers to hand it out, Bethany Church for providing a base for RBTS week and all the volunteers, sponsors and participants...THANK YOU. Times can be found at iResults.com
I know this may sound silly but get out your phone, go to your calendar app and save Saturday June 2, 2018 for the 22nd Rye by the Sea 5k Walk/Run & Duathlon so you can come see what all the fun was about!

Coming up on June 25 at the Hawg's Pen Cafe it's the 3rd Annual Lucas' Helping hands M/C Ride. There'll be live music and prizes, fun for the entire family!

Friday, June 30 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at Captain's Cove Adventure Golf in Hampton, NH. It's the first event for the Trevor's Miles Fund to help this family raise money for a wheelchair van. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased on our website.

There is always more to come, more happening and more fun. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and our website!

Finally, I would like to invite you to join our monthly giving group. It's easy, just visit AnniesAngels.org  and make a donation. During check out click the box that asks if you'd like to make your donation recurring monthly. No amount is to small, no amount is to great. We need your continued support. Thank you.

        Lonza Harvest Open Golf Classic
This year, on September 14, Lonza, a Portsmouth based company will present the 16th Annual Harvest Open Golf Classic. Each year since it's beginning, a committee from the local workforce has selected 2 local charities from entries submitted, to receive the proceeds of the event. As the golf classic steps towards a milestone of $1,000,000.00 donated, this could be the biggest year to date.

Our Chris' Pets for Vets Program is honored to be one of the charities selected! Chris' Pets for Vets provides FREE companion animals to current and former military through local animal shelters Cocheco Valley Humane Society and Salem Animal Rescue League to combat the affects of PTSD. To find out more, to find the signs and symptoms, to get a helpful phone number to call if you think a friend or family member may be at risk visit  chrispetsforvets.org

The second charity selected is Zebra Crossings! Zebra Crossings offers empowerment programs for youth and teens with chronic medical conditions.  Whether it is a week-long camp or weekend activities, care is always provided by trained medical staff.  We aim to lessen the burden of chronic medical conditions by connecting kids through play and giving respite for caregivers.  Zebra Crossings is a fun, safe place where kids just get to be kids. For more info go to ZebraCrossing.org

YOU can be a part of this historic event! Chris' Pets for Vets and Zebra Crossings is charged with collecting raffle and auction items for the golf classic. Does your company have a product that we can auction or raffle to help raise the bottom line? Are you thinking you may want to help but you're not sure how? Would you like to go shopping and make a private donation OR would you or your company like to sponsor an item or one of the trips we are working to procure? Email bill@anniesangels.org  . We can answer your questions and even pick up your donation. As always, thanks for your support!

•Cover the bottom and sides of a 9 x 13 baking dish with wax paper and set aside.
•In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, honey and vanilla and mix well.
•Carefully fold in the fresh fruit, trying not to mash the fruit.
•Cover and freeze for four hours.
•Lift the piece of wax paper from the dish and cut or use your hands to break the bark into pieces.
•Store in an airtight container in the freezer

Wonderful and Simple Reiki

Have you ever heard of Reiki? Have you ever had the pleasure of experiencing Reiki first hand? Well, I can tell you that this very simple, natural technique has transformed my life, and so many others' as well.

So, what is it?   Reiki (Ray-Key) is an ancient, gentle, hands-on technique that helps you feel and heal better. Reiki sessions can facilitate deep relaxation, relieve pain, and promote wellness and personal growth. Reiki stimulates your body’s innate healing resources, encouraging a return to balance.

You lay fully clothed on a comfortable table for your treatment. During and after a Reiki session, you'll experience a very relaxed and calm feeling. People may request sessions to reduce anxiety, lower stress levels, relieve pain and to promote wellness, although it does so much more.

This technique gently releases old emotional patterns, as well as being an effective tool to overcome the pressures of career, relationships, parenting, and finances. Reiki enables you to access your own inner wisdom and creativity, as well as expand your consciousness and spiritual  awareness.

Many Reiki Practitioners share stories of increased creativity with their art, and writing, while others are able to make difficult decisions much more quickly. All enjoy a calmer and more joyful life with less anxiety and more gratitude. Learning and practicing this simple technique allows  you to be who you're meant to be, naturally.

Children, pets and adults all benefit from Reiki, and I encourage you to research it, and decide if it's right for you.

Peace and Light,

Bug Off with Essential Oils!
Alexandra Lockwood

It is summer and as the weather gets nicer you may be spending more time outside — gardening, hiking, camping and enjoying summer BBQ’s. To greater enjoy your outdoor activities you can use natural repellents made with doTerra essential oils. The first essential oil I would recommend is a blend called Terrashield. This blend is made of Ylang Ylang Flower, Nootka Wood, Cedarwood Wood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, Litsea Fruit, Arborvitae Wood essential oils and Vanilla Bean Absolute in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil and Tamanu Seed Oil. It can be used safely by all members of the family, including on your dogs. You can apply this blend to your arms, legs and neck before going outside or diffuse on your patio. You can spray around your tent when camping. This oil blend comes in both a 10ml bottles as well as a convenient 30 ml spray bottle.

In addition to Terrashield for dogs, I like to put cedarwood on my dog or put a few drops of cedarwood, lavender and geranium oils on a bandana to protect him from fleas and ticks.

If you or your pet do get a tick, please use an approved method to remove them such as a tick card or tweezers. Essential oils can be supportive both in preventing ticks as well as after you have come in contact with it and safely removed it. (For safe ways to remove a tick see the center for disease control’s site https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/removing_a_tick.html ) There are many oils that can be soothing after your remove a tick. I would recommend lavender and/or melaleuca.

There are also many recipes for your own repellant blend. There is one with 10 drops Terrashield, 10 drops lavender and 10 drops peppermint that you can make and use witch hazel. Some other recipes include: 20 drops lavender + 20 drops lemongrass + 10 drops peppermint

20 drops rosemary + 20 drops cedarwood + 10 drops peppermint

15 drops lavender + 10 drops basil + 10 drops rosemary + 15 drops spearmint

15 drops eucalyptus + 20 drops lavender + 15 drops lemongrass

If you get bit you can make an itch relief spray using a 2-oz. glass spray bottle with 5 drops lavender oil, 2 drops Frankincense oil and 3 drops melaleuca oil. Fill the rest with witch hazel, shake before use and spray.

For more information about doTerra essential oils you can go to https://www.mydoterra.com/welloiledfamily/#/ and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/welloiledfamily/
